Have A Safe And Enjoyable Cricket Season

Posted by TravellingStrom on December 5, 2013

Hi all

As you may or may not know, I am a non believer, so to me xmas is a time when there are more idiots on the road, quite often under the influence of drugs or alcohol. This of course leads to carnage and there are many many families who hate this time of year due to tragedy in the past. So, whatever you do, ride safe, OK!!!

But, on the other hand, it has always been classified as the silly season when excess is accepted as less, just look at the US where on one day they bless the lord for what they have, Thanksgiving Day, then the next they splurge on Black Friday and buy everything in sight, insane!!!!!!(no disrespect to my American friends, it is just an observation) But, despite the negatives, there is always a positive and that means it is cricket season  🙂 So, lets get on with it, forget the downside of this time of the year, settle down, insert your box, crack a tinny and maybe we can bowl a few maidens over.  🙂

Now, anytime of the year is beer time as you should know by now, but it was summed up a few years ago by Chris Franklin, an Ozzie comedian, when he made this video below, (you Sheilas probably won’t like it all that much)  😉

And just to make sure I offend nobody(except those groups who hate non believers!!!) I thought I would post the following message. It has been around for a while, not sure of the origin, it is plagiarised, so if you own it and don’t want it posted here, let me know and I will remove it, alright, but it sums up what the world is coming to nowadays with all this bloody political correctness?

Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress, non-addictive, gender neutral, celebration of the summer solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasions and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all. We also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling, and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2014, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make Australia great (not to imply that Australia is necessarily greater than any other country), and without regard to the race, creed, colour, age, physical ability, religious faith, or sexual preference of the wishee. By accepting this greeting, you are accepting these terms: This greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal. It is freely transferable with no alteration to the original greeting. It implies no promise by the wisher to actually implement any of the wishes for her/himself or others, and is void where prohibited by law, and is revocable at the sole discretion of the wisher. This wish is warranted to perform as expected within the usual application of good tidings for a period of one year, or until the issuance of a subsequent holiday greeting, whichever comes first, and warranty is limited to replacement of this wish or issuance of a new wish at the sole discretion of the wisher.

And just for the record, my travel plans are on the slow burner, work has been less than productive, but that just means I have more time to plan 🙂 I have had a few changes of work since I returned to Oz back in April, I am currently driving a truck for a firm that delivers emergency spares to the mine sites out west of Rockhampton. If you are interested you can follow my SPOT and see where I am or where I have been, just use the tool box on the left to see earlier trips.

Cheers and hiccup from Downunder
