Day 414– 26th January 2010
Tuesday – Comodoro Rivadavia, Argentina
HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY EVERYONE 🙂
There you go, a rest day for me on our special day 🙂 And I did rest in between getting the blog up to date, I even sat around reading a book for a change and had a few beers of course 🙂 And this also gave me a chance to sort some planning for later on. I don’t plan a lot of things, but getting back home with or without the bike will take some effort.
I will say here that my original plan, thought, idea was to ride the bike south to the tip on the west coast, then ride it back up on the east coast and back into the US and sell the bike. But, how naive was I eh! I never thought it would take so much time to get this far. When I spent nearly a month in Mexico, I did then start to realise I did not have the time and so my next idea was to get as far as Buenos Aires and then fly the bike to the states and sell it. Well, that is still an option, along with selling it here in BA, or ride it further north to Brazil and sell it, or even store it here for a short period and then maybe bring it home with me.
So, with all those options spinning through my head, I am trying to plan for what happens if plan A, falls through and maybe plan B also is not a goer. So, today I got stuck into it and managed to achieve some or part of the processes involved. There is a good chance of a buyer in BA, from the US, so the paperwork issue would be minimal, but I cannot bank on that until the bike is seen and a price agreed upon.
That said, I still have time up my sleeve, but my brain has gone out of tourist mode until I can sort this issue out. IF, and it is a big IF, I sell it in BA, then I will be able to relax and be a tourist again, albeit by shanks pony rather than a bike.
Anyway, enough ramblings, tomorrow I head north and as I would rather get the bike into BA as soon as possible, I will do as long a day as needed, it will all depend on that dratted wind!
Day – 0 miles and 0 km
Trip – 52,970 miles and 85,247 km

Rich,
I have followed your journey since last May when you came across a friend of mine here in Charlotte,NC somewhere in TX.
I just want to say a big thank you for sharing your ride and maybe one day I will be able to follow your tracks. Good Luck wherever the next journey takes you.
Cheers,
Kevin

Hi Kevin and thanks
Just get out there and ride, don’t follow my tracks, make some new ones and maybe we will be on the same bit of road together one day 🙂

Keeping the bike or selling? That is the question.
Craig’s List and Kijiji if it is available in BA would help. The tumbleStrom has been a dependable old workhorse and retiring it out to pasture is a noble gesture. Allowing it to stretch its legs for someone else, will give it a second life, and its time with you can be best served in our memories, rather than being parked in a container waiting for your return from your next leg.
Good luck

Well, that all sounds grand and much appreciated, and I would love to take it home, but honestly, it is cheaper for everyone if it stays here and works like a real bike 🙂
btw calling it a tumblestrom may be accurate but not really helping in the marketplace eh 😉
Cheers TS

Happy Australia Day!
I think you should turn this blog into a book! It would be a great seller, you have so many great pics and interesting stories with all the different people you have met.
Cheers

Hi and thanks for the interest. I am unsure on book value, like basically it is only one persons daily bullshit diary or personal experience, I would be doubtful of it entertaining the masses etc, but I appreciate the thoughts 🙂

Hey freind go see BRAZIL I bet you will love it , and will never leave, find a good wife and stay there. People are more nice in Brazil then Argentina, at least try south of Brazil, states of Parana, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul.

That is a very nice comment, but also a tad parochial. I do want to see Brazil, and I may do so, but as for finding a wife, I am not sure that is possible for me!
