I Woke up a bit crook after last night, to be expected though. Had a lazy start as I had only a short distance to travel today. It was starting to get hot though, by about 10.30am when I left it was already 32C. I had plenty of water and made use of it while cruising slowly towards Karumba, just up the road about 70k or so and on the coast of the gulf. It was not long before the flat flood plains made themselsves evident
I found a caravan park near the middle of the town and set up on a dusty old site, a bit dry here at this time of year.
The park was full of fisher campers and some were just arriving back after a mornings line wetting, one chap had done all right, 22kg of Spanish Mackeral. They had these special areas for fish cleaning and scraps which got a lot of use.
These campers bring all the comforts of home, including TV and Satellite
The water looked nice, but no way was I going in, too many snappers
I had a lazy day recuperating, before wondering down to the Animal Bar, not as bad as it sounds nowadays, but it got a bit rowdy as the Broncos were playing and I was amongst Manly supporters 🙂
I liked this drawing on the wall, especially the fish on the top right
The broncos won as I hoped, they should be good for the finals I think! Then Barry turned up, I had met him here last year on the return from the Long Ride, we had some beers together before they closed up around 9.
Day – 80km
Trip – 3463km
