Mayan Prophecy Countdown
So I had a relaxing morning catching up on the blog and waiting for kick off time. For those that do not know, State of Origin is one of the best and toughest games of footy you will ever see. Normal league games are tough, the blokes playing this game step up and put in more effort to play for their state. The two teams are Queensland QLD and New South Wales NSW, they have both won a game this year in the three game series, this one is the decider, sure to be a good contest. The game has been going on for years and until recently it has been about 50/50. But, for the past 6 years in a row, Queensland have dominated and the letters NSW means Now Six Wins 🙂
Well, after a well fought game, the Queenslanders took home the trophy once again, well done boys, but to be fair it was a tough fight this year and it could have gone either way at the end.
Anyway, back on the road after this and the original plan was to go around to Sue’s shop for breakfast and get a photo for some local advertising, you know, “As Eaten By World Travellers”, but Sue came home crook, so that never happened, bummer, looks like a bit of photoshop could be called for! Hope you get better Sue, it was great to meet you and Graham again and I am sure it may happen again in the future. 🙂
The run down to Chesterfield was only a short one and only a few showers to annoy me today, the only thing of note was right at the end, I had to get over about 10 speed bumps to get to the house of my Uncle John and Auntie Jan, these were vicious and I bottomed out on every one!!
But, I was soon sitting down and catching up on a lot of family stuff, the last time I had seen them was back in 86 when they were in Silberhutte in the Harz Mountains, Germany. They are Anthony’s parents, he rode with me down in Bosnia, Serbia, Romania etc on the way to Vlad the Impaler’s Castle. Unfortunately he could not be here as he was doing exams for a new career, but that meant I got his bed, thanks m8 and good luck 🙂 (note – he passed with flying colours). The evening was more of the same, except beer had replaced tea and we had a very relaxing time, but I never took any photos 🙂
Cheers from Chesterfield, England
