HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD
Yep, it is official, my dad is older than me 🙂 Have a nice day.
Mine started as normal, slowly and it looked to be a slower day ahead. Gert had said the shops don’t open until 10, maybe, so there was no rush. But around ten Gino turned up and said that Gerts friend Fabricio would be arriving soon to take him around some bike shops so he could replace the damaged riding gear from the crash. Fair enough, so I waited, and waited, TIB. Eventually they turned up and a large group of us piled into his big 4wd and we hit the shops. Not the most productive day, but I did manage to find a 19” inner tube to replace the one given to me by Gino and at the fourth shop I did spot a tyre that would do at a pinch, so that was all good. During the shopping, the Honda shop had a TransAlp that Fabricio was interested in, but we talked him out of it as it seemed to be a bit of a girls bike. But, on the fairing were some co-ordinates and when I eventually looked them up on the net, it was somewhere in France, I have no idea what they are there for, but it was a 2nd hand bike anyway.
After this we somehow went for lunch, this was another long winded affair of which I had no real interest, I should have taken the opportunity to hop out when we went past the hotel. Basically another long wait for food, even though the food was nice when it arrived, but it was another two hours of the day gone missing. All up with waiting and eating about 5 hours just to find a tyre, but at least I know where one is.
Later on I managed to get some blog work done and even later we found out that yes, the box had arrived and had been delivered to the air freight company’s office and could be looked at tomorrow with a shipping agent managing the import. There were a lot more headaches involved here for Chris and Melissa to get this far during this day, but at least now it may be close at hand. Another slow evening trying to post on a dodgy connection, watch the Dakar and for a change eat by myself around the corner at a Thai place, in and out within 30 minutes, that is how it should be, this group thing is becoming frustrating and I may make a decision to head off solo again, we shall see on tyres.
