Day 433 – 14th February 2010

Posted by TravellingStrom on February 14, 2010

Sunday – DakarMotos, Buenos Aires, Argentina

Another lazy day today, did a bit of planning for the next week or so, I started to sort out some of my gear, but in the end gave up and read a book πŸ™‚ I was in email contact with Alana and Mike and we finally after many rounds decided to meet up at a place over town, for beer and a chat. This was a market and it was quite busy but as there was a pub there, I bought a beer and kept an eye out and eventually spotted them walking past πŸ™‚

This is where I found out they had finished their trip down in Ushuaia, they had sold the Ural and sidecar and were flying back home to blighty tomorrow arvo. Their blog is very interesting and it seems they finished the trip in style. Before they left on this journey, they had a number of things done, one was they had their heads read πŸ™‚ This was done by an electronic scan or something, each of them was checked out and the results were placed in a sealed envelope, they also had some other tests done and these also were sealed up. The idea was, the three tests would tell them whether they are compatible and should stay married, or should they be divorced! They opened the envelopes in the presence of a ships captain, who can marry people and they also had a divorce lawyer on hand, you can read about the results here Anyway, after a beer and a chat we walked around the markets for ages, checking out all the tat. A lot of it was antique local stuff, so although it was nice to look at, not much interest for me. There were also tango dancers on the square, not as sleazy as the salsa though πŸ˜‰

Now, as it was Valentines Day, I assume the red colour heart shaped balloons were there for a reason, but the message on them was a bit rude especially as the balloons were for kids, although I guess they have no idea what it means, maybe!

The message is β€œKY gel Intimo” and these were prolific around the streets, as well as artists, the street vendors and art shops.

The Tango is big in this town as is music, I think the chap on the left is just tuning his musical bottle up πŸ˜‰

This market went for blocks and blocks, with many a strange and wonderful sight, but we eventually found a nice place for a rest and a beer at a place with all the right attributes πŸ™‚

The drums came by later, very loud and a basic beat, but the girl knew how to move to the beat πŸ™‚

Well, after a while we had to head off, they were going for a Tango lesson before heading to town at 1am to see some real Tango, things start late down here. I headed back and managed to arrive just as food was being served in celebration of Fabricio’s 50th Birthday, Happy Birthday m8 πŸ™‚

So, a few beers were drunk again, but it was not a late night, only about midnight this time πŸ˜‰

Day –0 miles and km
Trip – 54,042 miles and 86,972 km
