Woke up for a quick breakfast as we were heading out for a day ride with the Rainforest Riders, the Cairns Ulysses club.
Our plan was to head up the Kuranda range, head west for a morning tea at Mareeba before lunch at Almaden, a one cow town at one end of a private railway.
So, gathered together at a local hotel carpark where the days itinary was told to us.
There was about 30 riders and pillions. This club is nothing like the Capricorn branch of which I am a member, no poking along at the speed of the slowest rider here, up here you travel at your own comfortable pace and meet at each stop, a lot better organised 🙂
Coffee and cake at the Coffeworkz in Mareeba, the Melbourne Collective would love this place, more Lattes than you can poke a stick at.
Then off to Almaden where we had a lunch organised at the local hotel, funnily enough it is called the Railway Hotel And the reason for that is in the following photos.
The Station and the water tank
The pub and its nice comfy outdoor setting
The road on the way out of town
Then we stopped for a beer at Dimbulah
And a gentle ride home after another beer stop at Speewah, got back to Des’ at around 4pm, just in time to watch the Broncos kick the Raiders arse, hahaha 🙂
A few beers and Rums were had whilst watching a bit of teev.
