Well, woke up late and pretty crook didn’t I, it was to be expected after drinking that much rum and beer 😉
After a bit of a laze around, I followed Peter down to the tyre shop for a new front shoe and left it there. He then took me for a small tour around the area and of some of the 4wd tracks.

First off was the town of Red cliffs where they have an old steam unit called Big Lizzie, and it is big, it would be impressive to watch when it is working.

Then going off road we saw the actual red cliffs the place was named after.

Going through this area you can see the devastation caused by bad land management and too much irrigation, this swamp ended up being turned into acid, not just salt.

Some of the roads we were on are not Vstrom roads, my kidneys certainly got a work out in the 4wd. We eventually picked up my bike and had a chat with the Suzuki shop owner, he was interested in my bash plate, I also explained to him about the lack of gasket on the air filter on the 06 model and I think he will be ordering the 07 version, at half price, who wouldn’t! We then went for a ride, mostly on road this time. First stop was this motel where he had imported a piece of movie set, nothing else in the motel was on this theme though, the owner is Egyptian.

I continued to follow Peter.

Eventually we got a town called Wentworth, it is at the junction of the Murray and Darling Rivers, now I know what they mean when they talk about the Murray-Darling, it sounds so simple, but hard to imagine unless you think about it 🙂 The old Massey Ferguson tractor is a legend around here

There was this sign here, the way my body was feeling, it sure was in agreement 🙂

This is the actual junction. From the left, all the way from Queensland is the Darling River, it is actually flowing, it is where the green buoy is. On the right where the red buoy is, that is the Murray River, it does not flow, it has so many locks and weirs it is nearly still 😦

On we went to a place called sandy hills, or sandy dunes, I cannot recall 🙂 This had a bit of dirt to get there.

On the return we dropped into Jacintas place to say g’day and saw that the bike needed speed to blow off all the cobwebs 🙂

After that, we went back and had a couple of quiet beers while installing a set of Givi crash bars on Petes bike, he has not dropped it yet, fingers crossed. And young Haley got into the act as well 🙂

Did I mention how warm it is up here? I cannot believe the difference between down south and here, it has been in the mid 30’s during the day, although it does drop down in the evening and night. Still, no frosts and no wearing of thermal underwear and waterproof gear as it does not rain either 🙂 I would hate to be here in summer though, up to 50C apparently 😦
