Packed up and left Uralla and it was actually sunny for a change.
Mind you some waterproof electronics do not seem to be actually waterproof 😦 This is my Chargeguard with moisture inside the unit, I dismantled it and left it air dry for a while.
I headed south west towards Bendemeer which is the start of the Oxley Highway. I passed Thunderbolt rocks on the way just outside Uralla. This is where Captain Thunderbolt earned his name.
It was nice open country with good roads to start with.
Then once I turned east along the highway, it became twisty and tree covered but still fast and smooth.
Then a bit further up the road it became tighter and more fun 🙂
There were some nice views, but once again, the camera does not do it justice.
These cows had a better view than anyone 🙂
Now, when I stayed at Dave’s place the other day, he showed me this bridge using google maps and street view, it was a suspension bridge at a place called Kindee. I remembered about it and went for a first hand look and it is impressive what they built way back then with not much in the way of tools or materials etc.
Then after that there was more windy road until I hit the highway on the coast and headed north. I had intended doing another road west of Kempsey, but I had a fair distance to cover still.
I got into Coffs Harbour around 5 ish and met up with Greg and his partner Sandy. We had a few ales and his brother Tony turned up and I must say it was a great dinner and a top evening, we stayed up very late 🙂 Both Greg and Sandy had new 08 Vstroms, so tomorrow we were going for a ride, timetable to be discussed further. Tony rode mostly enduro style and was doing a ride very early in the morning. Greg is a gadget freak, even an electric salt and pepper grinder with a light on the bottom so you can see where to use it, so I had to have a go, it took a few attempts for the photo, so I had a fair amount of salt on my food, tasted great though.
